Harry Melvin Shaver, age 78, of Roanoke Rapids, NC, passed away on Monday, June 19, 2023 at Accordius Health at Scotland Manor in Scotland Neck.

He was born on October 27, 1944 to James and Virginia Shaver in Baltimore, MD and was married to Virginia Feaganes on February 1, 1965. Harry loved mowing his grass and keeping his yard in good shape. He loved fishing and enjoyed being outdoors. Harry worked as a heavy equipment operator for Atkinson Excavating for twenty eight years.

Harry is survived by his beloved wife, Virginia Shaver; his daughters, Mary Lee Houston of Plymouth, Jacqueline Shaver Chambers and husband Douglas of Spotsylvania, VA, and Sherry Ann Hamn of Stafford Co., VA;  his son, Harry Shaver, Jr. and wife Samantha of Keysville, VA; his sisters, Daisy Easton of Front Royal, VA, Lee Jennings and husband Jr. of Fredricksburg, VA, Ann Daddysman of Montross, VA, and Suzanne Lamb of Partlow, VA; and his brother, Johnny Shaver of Montross, VA.

No services will be held at this time.

So sorry!! I met him at Raphine truck stop. Steve had me ckimb up on the truck asking for directions or something. Then WJ saw Steve laughing. More recent WJ worked vDot with us! Thank you guys for being so nice to me and ‘dad’ for being someone for Steve to look up to!

I am so sorry we have lost another brother in our family. It’s sad that our lives didn’t allow us to be closer! But my love for my brother never ceased. Go rest high on that mountain your work on Earth is done. Love and miss you Lee and Jr.
