Harvey Douglas “Doug” Braddy, 69, died Friday, September 9, 2011.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 12, 2011 at the Letchworth Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Sunnyside Cemetery. The Reverend Doctor James Drake, the Reverend J.N. Baggett, and the Reverend Billy Hardwick will be presiding.
Doug was a loving husband, daddy, and Am Pa. He loved dancing, was a friend to many, and never met a stranger. Doug retired as Superintendent of Public Works from the Town of Scotland Neck. He was presently working for Ryder Truck Rentals in Rocky Mount. Doug was a Town Commissioner for the Town of Hobgood for 38 years and a Deacon at Hobgood Baptist Church. He served in the National Guard and was a Hobgood Volunteer Fireman for 27 years.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Mary Braddy; his brother, Linwood Braddy; and his sister, Ola Mae Berry.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Marks Braddy; daughter, Amy Flowers and husband Brad of Grimesland; brother, David Braddy and wife Shirley of Ellicott City, MD; two grandchildren, Mary Grace Flowers and William Thomas Flowers; and sister-in-law, Shelby Baker and husband Gene "Pop".
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday, September 11, 2011 at Letchworth Funeral Home in Scotland Neck.
