ENFIELD, NC- Helen Fleming Twisdale, age 96, of Enfield, passed away on Thursday, June 17, 2021 at the The Oaks Nursing and Rehab of Winston Salem, NC.
Helen was born on May 25, 1925, to the late Willie L, and Eunice Pope Fleming in Halifax County, NC. Helen worked for Enfield Insurance Agency for over 30 years before retiring at the age of 70. She was always full of life and often had people stop by the office just to say hi. She grew up on a family farm with her two older brothers, Willie “Buster” and Pope. At the young age of 5, her mother passed away, leaving her to become immensely close to her father who showered her with love and protection but also taught her to be strong and independent. Helen overcame many obstacles, including polio but it never slowed her down or stopped her from enjoying life. Helen was a wonderful cook and was very creative. She enjoyed making clothes for her children, various crafts, and crocheting blankets. She loved her children and grandchildren and cherished every minute she could spend with them. Helen will be remembered for her kindness, her beautiful blue eyes, and for the love she shared with everyone. She will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew her.
Along with her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her loving husband, Wallace Leon Twisdale.
Left to cherish Helen’s memory are two daughters, Julie and son-in-law John Andrew of Winston Salem, and Eunice Kurz of Henrico, VA; three grandsons, Joshua Reilly and wife Carter of Henrico, VA, Matthew Reilly of Midlothian, VA, and Luke Andrew and wife Blair of Raleigh, NC; a granddaughter, Katherine Andrew and husband Matthew Allenbaugh of Roanoke, VA; and 4 great-granddaughters, Reagan, Laurel, Reese, and Avery.

I’m so very sorry to hear of the loss of Helen Twisdale. She was a wonderful person and a great friend and neighbor. I had the honor of living across the street from her and loved taking Julie for a walk in the afternoons. Love to the girls and their families
