Jackson, NC-Helen Morris Bloom of Jackson, NC died January 11, 2018 at the Pine Forest Rest Home in Potecasi, NC.

She was born on October 29, 1926 at Simons Creek in Pasquotank County to the late Willie Pittman Morris and Alpine Meads Morris.

She joined the Jackson United Methodist Church at the age of twelve.  She graduated from Jackson High School and attended Elon College, now Elon University, to further her education. She worked as a secretary, bookkeeper, office manager and managed the Hampton Woods Apartments for ten years until retirement.  She was active in her church and held many church offices over time including Treasurer of the church for thirty-five years, Secretary of the church board of directors and President of the United Methodist Women.  She was active in her community as well, where she participated in civic organizations and volunteer work.

Helen was a world traveler, a lover of the outdoors, an avid reader, and a second mother to her nieces and nephews and beloved dog, Lucky.

Other than her mother and father, she is preceded in death by her husband, Howard Robert Bloom, her sister, Goldie Morris Eley and her husband Jasper, a nephew, John Thomas Beasley and her dearly loved dog, Little Boy.

Mrs. Bloom is survived by her, sister, Harriet Morris Beasley and her husband Jim of Jackson, NC: sister-in-law, Susan Bloom Farber; five nephews, Morris Beasley and his wife Sheryl, Joe Beasley and Sherrie, Jerry Beasley and his wife Judy, Bill Beasley and his wife Kaye, David Eley and his wife Donna; two nieces, Debbie Tunstall and her husband Jim, Polly Williford and her husband Michael. Also surviving is Nancy Beasley, widow of the late John Thomas Beasley.

Visitation will be held Sunday, January 14, 2018, 1:00pm -1:45pm at the W.P. and Alpine Morris Fellowship Hall of the Jackson United Methodist Church, Jackson, NC.

Funeral services will follow at 2:00pm at the Jackson United Methodist Church with the Rev. Wallace O’Neal officiating. Interment will be at the Jackson Cemetery.

Just found out about Helen.She was so loved and admired by all in our family and we will forever have loving memories of her.She will always have a special place in my heart.My deepest sympathy to all of her family.
