WOODLAND, NC – James Lewis Bolton, age 90, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2017 at his home with his daughter by his side.
Mr. Bolton was born on April 23, 1926, in Northampton County, NC a son of the late Joshua Lemuel and Fannie Lassiter Bolton. James was a 1943 graduate of Rich Square High School. After graduation, he joined the US Navy and served for two and a half years, before becoming a truck driver for Rose Brothers Contractors, from which he retired.
Besides his parents, James was preceded in death by three wives, Edith Mae Smith Bolton, Margaret Colson Bolton, and Hattie Wright Bolton, and a son, James Doyle Bolton.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Scarlett B. Norris of Woodland, NC, and Debbie Robbins of Rich Square, NC; a son, Marvin Colson and wife, Sharon of Woodland, NC; a sister, Margaret B. Edwards of Lasker, NC; four grandsons, Jeremy Norris and wife, Rebecca of DeRidder, LA, Gregory Bolton and wife, Amanda of Conway, NC, Timothy Robbins and wife, Bobbi of Benson, NC, Tommy Colson and wife, Crystal of Virginia Beach, VA; three great grandsons, Zachary Norris, Eli Norris, and Luke Robbins; two granddaughters, Jessica Robbins Liverman and husband, Will of Winton, NC, Jennifer Robbins Ennis and husband, Len of Rich Sqaure, NC; and two great granddaughters, Kaylee Ennis, and Maya Colson; .
The family will receive friends on Friday, March 17, 2017, at 10:00 am prior to services at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Rich Square, NC.
A celebration of life memorial service will be held on Friday, March 17, 2017, at 11:00 am at the Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service – Rich Square Chapel, with Rev. Robert Licht, officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made in his memory to a charity of one’s choice.
