LEWISTON-WOODVILLE – Janice Saunders Jilcott, age 97, of the 200 block of Main Street, died Tuesday, October 27, 2009, at her home.

Mrs. Jilcott was born in Bertie County on May 18, 1912, a daughter of the late John Barrett and Annie Bazemore Saunders. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Lewiston. Janice worked in the office at Dan Pittman‚??s Insurance Agency and in later years was caregiver for her mother. She was the widow of George Henry Jilcott.

Left to cherish her memory are her nieces, Barbara L. Brown of Raleigh, NC, and Janice S. Hemric of North Canton, Ohio; her nephew, John R. Saunders, Jr. of Richmond, VA; and numerous, great, and great, great nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 1, 2009, at Edgewood Cemetery in Windsor, NC, with the Rev. Al Hughson officiating. Flowers are welcome or memorial donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Lewiston, 205Cashie St., Lewiston-Woodville, NC, 27849.

Rest in Peace, Nanice. I will always remember the Wonderful Times I was granted to spend with you. I know that you are with our Dear Lord above, and I have comfort with that.

she had some loving caregivers by her side day and night. her nephew was there for her through her tough days. i’m blessed to have had her as my patient. god bless all of you.
