Mrs. Jeannette ‘Miss Jeannette’ Askew Johnson, age 83 died at the Britthaven Nursing Home in Wilson on August 28, 2008. She was a native of Northampton County living in Lasker all her life. She was married to Harry Johnson in 1943 and to them was born three children. She was a member of the Lasker Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school and nursery. Miss. Jeannette worked in the community thirty plus years as a beautician. She also worked at Mylcraft Manufacturing for fifteen years retiring in 1986. Miss. Jeannette enjoyed her family, her home place and gardening.
Preceding her in death are her mother and father, Mary Eva and Possie Askew, her husband, Harry Johnson, one daughter, Harriet Bullock and her son Heath, two sisters; Janie Lassiter and Leah Clarke, four brothers; Earl, Jimmy, Wilson and Wray Askew.
Survivors include two daughters; June Bridgers and her husband Freddie of Rocky Mount and Amy Parks and her husband Ronnie of Jackson, four grandchildren; Bryan Bridgers and his wife Georgie, Ashley, Shelly and Evan Parks. Also surviving are two great grandchildren, Brittany and Savannah Bridgers.
