GATES, NC – Jerry Lewis Hall, beloved son, father, and brother, passed away on October 14, 2023, at the age of 70. He was born on October 3, 1953, in Bertie County. Jerry’s passing came as a result of natural causes, marking the end of a life filled with warmth, love, and an unwavering dedication to his family.
During his working years, Jerry held a position in maintenance for the Suffolk Redevelopment Housing Authority, diligently serving his community until his health no longer permitted. He took pride in his work and approached every task with a strong sense of responsibility.
Jerry’s deepest passion was for the outdoors, and he enjoyed spending his time hunting and fishing. His generous spirit and willingness to help others were traits that defined him. Jerry was always there to lend a helping hand, giving the shirt off his back without hesitation. His kindness and compassion touched the lives of many, leaving an indelible mark on those who knew him.
Jerry is preceded in death by his father, Wilbert W. Hall, Sr., his mother, Annie Gertrude Harrison Hall, his sisters, Annie Faye Whitehead and Lila Geraldine Newsome, and his brother, Kenneth R Hall. Although they are no longer with us, their memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved them.
Jerry leaves behind his daughter, Kristi Hall of Suffolk, who held a special place in his heart. He also leaves behind two brothers, Wilbert W. (Jane) Hall Jr. of Merry Hill and Howard (Loretta) Hall of Gates, along with three nephews, Nate Rhodes, Jeremy Preston Hall, and Kenneth Ray Hall Jr., and two nieces, Susan Hall Mizelle and Anita Hall. Jerry’s extended family, numerous cousins, and friends also mourn his loss.
A celebration of Jerry’s life will be held on October 29, 2023 at 2:30 pm at Nansemond Brew Station, 212 E. Washington Street, Suffolk, VA 23434 with the theme being Jerry-Riggin’ and please come “Dressed Like Jerry”. Through this memorial service, we will come together to honor and remember the life of a kind and amazing man who touched our lives in so many ways.
Jerry Lewis Hall will forever be remembered for his gentle soul, loving spirit, and unwavering dedication to those he held dear. May he find eternal peace and rest in the loving embrace of his Heavenly Father.
