WOODLAND, NC – Jessie Mae Johnson Bryant, known to many as “Mama Jessie”, age 86, died on Friday, April 28, 2017, at the Rich Square Health & Rehabilitation, Rich Square, NC.
Mrs. Bryant was born on July 17, 1930 to the late Millard and Edla Gilliam Johnson, on the same date in 1954, she married the love of her life, David L. Bryant. Jessie retired from the United States Postal Service and was a member of Woodland Baptist Church.
Besides her loving husband, and parents, Jessie was preceded in death by a sister, Gertrude Gregory, and a brother, Frank Johnson.
Jessie is survived by her two sons, Mike Bryant and wife Kim, and Tim Bryant, all of Woodland; four grandsons, Wayne Bryant and Shelly Hatcher of Conway, NC, Phillip Bryant of Washington, NC, Matt Bryant of Murfreesboro, NC, Brad Bryant and wife Emily of Murfreesboro, NC; five great-grandchildren; Brandi, Madison, David, Avery, and Barrett Bryant. Also surviving is her brother, Robert Lewis and wife Bessie of Spring Hill, LA; .
Those wishing to visit with the family may do so at the home of Mike and Kim Bryant, 497 NC 35 Hwy, Woodland, NC.
A celebration of life funeral service will be held on Sunday, April 30, 2017, at 2:00 pm, at the Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Rich Square, NC, with, the Rev. J Brabban and Dan Bryant officiating. Burial will follow at the Woodland Cemetery, Woodland, NC.
