Johanna Staton Brown passed in peace on Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at the age of 83 in Savannah, GA. A native of Halifax County and born to the late Ruth and Harvey Staton. Johanna was a well-traveled soul. She lived half her life in Mexico, Nicaragua, Venezuela, Panama, Costa Rica, Guatemala, and Thailand.

Mother of Amy Botti (husband, Ben Botti), Andy Brown (wife, Nancy Brown), Connie Brown and Michael Brown, Johanna is also survived by four grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Her sisters, Pat Winslow and Trudy Speight, continue to live in their hometown of Scotland Neck, NC. Her husband, Dick Brown, preceded her in death in 2008.

Johanna enjoyed quilting, reading, mahjong and worked as a bank teller in Florida for many years. She suffered and ultimately succumbed to Alzheimer’s disease.
