HARRELLSVILLLE, NC – John Edward “J.E.” Holloman, age 81, passed away on January 28, 2022, at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, NC.
Mr. Holloman was born in Hertford County, NC, on February 5, 1940, a son of the late Clarence Edward and Mabel Simpson Holloman. J. E. was a lifelong farmer and loved his work, tilling the soil and watching his crops grow to harvest. He enjoyed hunting, especially deer, and fishing, but most of all, J. E. was a man who loved his family and had many friends. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Ann Ward and a great granddaughter, Layla Grace Holloman.
Left to cherish his memory is his devoted wife, Peggy; a son, Johnnie Joseph Holloman and wife, Brenda of Colerain, NC; two granddaughters, Kristin Leigh (Brandon “Bubba”) Barnett of Trenton, NC, and Maryjo Elizabeth Sadler of Harrellsville, NC; a grandson, Aaron Mitchell (Brandee) Holloman of Harrellsville, NC; two great grandsons, Caleb Buck, and Cutler Buck of Trenton, NC; three great granddaughters, Kaileigh Buck and Kolbi Buck of Trenton, NC, and Rylee Grace Holloman of Harrellsville, NC; and two brothers, Doyle Ray “Buddy” (Louise) Holloman of Harrellsville, NC, and Wesley McCoy Holloman of Petersburg, VA.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 1, 2022, from 7:00 pm until 8:30 pm at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Ahoskie, NC.
A celebration of life graveside service will be held on Wednesday, February 2, 2022, at 11:00 am at the Harrellsville Cemetery, Harrellsville, NC, with Rev. Roger McDaniel II, officiating.

He was a pure joy to be around. Always had a smile for me. I called him granddaddy and loved him as my true blood even though we weren’t relalated. I will truly miss him. I’m so very sorry for all of his family. My thoughts and prayers go out to each one. Forever in my heart.
