It is November and I just learned of John’s passing. I met John in 1994 and have kept in touch with him over the years. I rented a room from John. John cared so much for his family and those friends that he made feel like family. Whenever I thought of a ‘good person’ the phrase “like John Henry” always came out. You are and will be missed.

For the short time I knew John Henry, it was apparent he had a gentle, caring soul. It was also apparent how much he loved his family that I know. I hope the hurt is soon replaced by his loving memories.

Your sparling blue eyes, your beautiful smile, fabulous laught, and wonderful sense of humor will be missed by all of us. No matter when or where I saw you – you always had time to listen and make me laugh – no matter how down I was at the time. You had a true gift my friend. I know you are still using that gift in a better place.

My prayers and thoughts are with you and your family and friends.

What a beautiful smile John Henry had. My memory of his smile, his sparkling eyes and his upbeat nature will stay with me always. So many good times I remember of John Henry with my extended family since the early days in Greenville, where I’m from and where my cousin Wendy came to live after college. I loved the close, caring friendship he and Wendy had. Both so fun-loving, cheering each other on through the years, having joyous gatherings and reunions each year at Wrightsville Beach. John Henry and Will and Wendy’s and Donna’s families and others would have such good times together. These happy days of summer bracketed the rest of the year. Losing John Henry is like losing the happiest, warmest day of summer. I hope the good memories of him will bring some consolation to his family and closest friends over time. John Henry was a beautiful person, both physically and spiritually. That thought of him will live in my heart. Peace to you, John Henry.

I worked with John Henry at Law Engeering. I grew to respect and love him like few other I have ever met. He was a dear friend and will be miss greatly.Though its been 19 years ago that we worked and played together and we would go long spell between speaking as life sometimes causes friend to do, I always knew that if I needed him he would be there for me. I love you John Henery Martin. I feel like Ive lost a brother. May your family take comfort in knowing that you were a great friend and will truley be missed by so many people. Thank you for the time you shared with me.!
