John Q. Williams
Aulander – John Quincy Williams, 68, of the 800 block of St. John‚??s-Millennium Road, died Tuesday, March 31, 2009, at his home.
Mr. Williams was born in Hertford County, a son of the late Roy and Elma Odom Williams. He was a longtime member and chairman of the board of deacons of Oak Grove Baptist Church and was a self-employed mechanic.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Judy Lassiter Williams; his daughters, Lynn Williams of Aulander, NC, and Johnna Godwin and her husband, Mitch of Ahoskie, NC; two grandchildren, Mitchell Godwin and Quincy Godwin, both of Ahoskie; and two sisters, Pearl Dunlow of Ahoskie, and Elizabeth Farmer of Aulander. Besides his parents, John was predeceased by a brother, Leroy Williams.
A celebration of life service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 3, 2009, at Oak Grove Baptist Church, Aulander, with the Rev. Bob Skeens and David Lassiter officiating. Burial will follow in Aulander Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Garrett Funeral Home, from 7:00 until 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, and other times at the home.
