Joe was such a special person…been around a long time. .made a lot of friends and business associates. I remember him always the same…friendly…smiling…joking…a little serious at times..(with all going on at the moment)..but always Joe Harrell wherever he happened to be…I thought the world of him…as I do all the Harrell family. I’m so sorry for your loss. I miss seeing him..but thankful I had a chance to know him. God bless each of you!!

We didn’t know Joe for many years as most of the posters did. But every so often, there comes a person who leaves such an indelible impression that it stays with you forever. Joe was such a person. My wife & I rented one of Joe’s apartments in 2008. We would normally stop by the store to drop off the rent check. While waiting I would observe Joe’s interactions with all of the people in the store-whether making a purchase or not. He always treated everyone with the utmost respect. As a landlord, he made us feel important and deeply appreciated. Ahoskie has lost one of its most favorite sons, and we are all bit poorer with his passing.
