AHOSKIE- Joseph “Joe Joe” Roger Albertson, age 40, of Ahoskie, passed away far too soon on Monday, August 9, 2021 at Vidant Medical Center.

Joseph “Joe Joe” was born on May 20, 1981 to Walter Roger and Leslie Pope Albertson in Hertford County, NC. Joe Joe worked as an equipment operator at a recycling center and was known to be an awesome mechanic. He spent most of his younger years in and out of the hospital, battling with his health before receiving a kidney transplant. Once he recovered, he made sure he lived his life to the fullest. Joe Joe loved to ride his 4-wheeler, go hunting and fishing, and hang out with his friends as often as he could. He was a wonderful son, uncle, brother, nephew and friend and in the words of his sister Lisa, “was the yin to my yang”. Joe Joe touched the lives of so many people and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Joe Joe was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents, and two uncles, Jimmy Albertson and Ander Albertson.

Left to cherish Joe Joe’s memory is his father, Walter Albertson, mother Leslie Pope Albertson and step-father Jimmy Mitchell; sister, Lisa Mines and husband Robert of Murfreesboro; brother, Shaun Albertson and wife Tonya of Jackson; two nieces, Kaitlyn and Michelle; seven nephews, Brandon, Trey, Dawson, Brian, Devin, Eric and Brantley; four aunts, Ann Woodard and husband Nathan of Murfreesboro, Marie Smith and husband Gene of Como, Betty Teachey and husband Sammy of Beulaville, and Molly Albertson of Pink Hill; two uncles, John Pope of Elizabeth City, and George Pope and wife Karen of Margarettsville, NC; special life-long friends which are more like family, Kenneth and Kathy Caine of Kelford, Dana, B.J, Farrah and Cami Vann of Irmo, SC, Buster and Lynn Vann of St. Johns, as well as so many friends.

Visitation will be held Friday, August 13, 2021, 6:30 pm – 9:00 pm at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Ahoskie, NC.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 14, 2021, 2:00 pm at the Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service – Ahoskie Chapel, Ahoskie, NC.
