Joyce Mulder Terry

AULANDER, NC – Joyce Mulder Terry, age 83, of the Millennium Township, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 15, 2023 at her home surrounded by her family.

Mrs. Terry was born on August 15, 1939 to Horace Irving Mulder and Mary Brown Conner in Ahoskie, NC. Joyce was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. She was married to the love of her life for 47 years until his death in 2002. She enjoyed grading peanuts as long as her health permitted. She cherished her family and enjoyed spending time with them. Three of Joyce’s favorite past times were fishing, playing the slot machines, and traveling to the beautiful mountains. Joyce was loved by her family and friends and will be deeply missed.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Godfrey Jackson “G. J.” Terry, Jr. and a sister, Linda Harrell.

Joyce is survived by her daughter, Pat Hoggard and husband Eddie of Aulander; her two sons, Ronald “Buddy” Terry and wife Shawn of Cofield, and Duane Terry of Virginia Beach, VA; three grandsons, Ben Hoggard and wife Michelle of Aulander, Brandon Terry and wife Molli of Belvidere, NC, and Jacob Terry of Virginia Beach, VA; a granddaughter, Amanda Hall and husband Jon of Bolivia, NC; three great-grandsons, Addison Hoggard, Tyler Hoggard, and Banks Hall; great-granddaughter, Bella Hall; great great grandson, Jaxson Hoggard; sister, Gloria Hoggard of Manteo, NC; brother, Robert “Bob” Mulder and wife Cindy of Charlotte, NC; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, January 17, 2023, from 6:00 pm until 7:30 pm at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Ahoskie, NC and other times at the home.

A celebration of life funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at 11:00 am at the Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service – Ahoskie Chapel, Ahoskie, NC, with Pastor Greg Hurdle officiating. Burial will follow at Ahoskie Cemetery.
