COMO, NC – Katherine Cullins Smith, age 57, passed away on November 27, 2019 at the Vidant Roanoke Chowan Hospital of Ahoskie, NC.
Mrs. Smith was born in Suffolk, VA, on November 25, 1962 a daughter of the late Linwood Earl “Pete” Cullins and Rebecca Flanagan “Becky” Brown. Katherine worked as a postal clerk for the US Postasl Service. She was a faithful member of Buckhorn Baptist Church and enjoyed going to church. Katherine was a people person who enjoyed talking on the phone and drinking Pepsi. She enjoyed working in her flowers and watching her hummingbirds, and especially playing bingo.
Katherine is survived by her devoted husband, Leslie Keith Smith, her daughter, Leslie Melissa Smith Ferguson and husband, Don of Como, NC; her mother, Becky (Lonnie) Brown of Colerain, NC; a grandson, Bentley Ferguson of Como, NC; a granddaughter, Kendyl Ferguson of Como, NC; a step son, Lee Smith of Raleigh, NC; her sister, Mary Lynn (Terry) Futrelle of Como, NC; her brother, Keith (Pam) Cullins of Como, NC; her mother-in-law, Marian Gurganus of Capron, VA; her beloved four-legged sidekick, Sophia; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 1, 2019, from 6:00 pm until 7:30 pm at Garrett-Sykes Memorial Chapel, Murfreesboro, NC.
A celebration of life service will be held on Monday, December 2, 2019, 11:00 am at the Buckhorn Baptist Church, Como, NC, with Rev. Bob Deacon, officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

She was a sweet, down to earth, loving funny, joy to be around person! Enjoyed talking a long time at the last Watermelon Fest. and visiting, even though she wasn’t feeling good then!
