HARRELLSVILLE, NC – Larry Collins Mitchell, age 66, passed away on February 7, 2018 at the Halifax Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Mitchell was born in Bertie County, on February 22, 1951, a son of the late James Madison and Evelyn Stallings Mitchell. Larry loved to fish and hunt, but his greatest passion was his work, as a farmer, hog farmer, and truck driver for Waters & Waters Construction. He loved his brownies and Mountain Dew and always insisted on drinking from a McDonalds cup, which is evident from the cupboards at his home. Larry was a loving and devoted family man, husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed by all.

Besides his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his brother, James Edward Mitchell.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Susan Winborne Mitchell, his son, Brian Collins Mitchell and wife, Heather of Harrellsville, NC; his daughter, Shelly Mitchell Daughtrey and husband, Andy of St. John, NC; his sister, Sue Mitchell Henry and husband, Pat of Virginia Beach, VA; his grandchildren, Dillion Mitchell of Harrellsville, NC, Madelaine Mitchell and friend Ben Campbell of Water Lily, NC, Colin Daughtrey and Gabby Daughtrey of St. John, NC; and a great granddaughter, Lillian Campbell of Water Lily, NC.

The family will receive friends on Friday, February 9, 2018, from 7:00 pm until 8:30 pm at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service of Ahoskie, and other times at the home. A celebration of life graveside service will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2018, at 2:00 pm, at the Harrellsville Cemetery with Rev. Wallace Phillips officiating.

There are no words that can express how I feel now. Sharon remember all the love and comfort you got from him. I didn’t know him that well but I know you and you have the strength to get through this with the arms of our Father wrapped closely around you. I will be praying for your comfort and for an added boost of love from all you know to get you and your family, where God wants you to be.
Love you

We had so much fun riding around the farm and hanging out at Larry and Susan’s when we were kids and visited at Aunt Evelyn and Uncle Jim’s house! Susan and family, my heart just aches for you. Please know that you will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Much love from Tennessee,
Joe’s daughter, Linda

My thoughts and prayers go out to Larry’s family. I have many fond memories of us growing up together as cousins and the times we spent together at his mom and dad’s house in Lewiston/Woodville.
