Larry Winborne, 80, died Friday, March 9, 2007. A memorial graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 17, 2007 at Sunnyside Cemetery in Scotland Neck. The Reverend Doctor James Drake will be presiding. Larry was a native of Scotland Neck and was a retired superintendent for Centel/Sprint. He moved to Tallahassee, FL in 1960 and was a member of the ITPA. He served in the US Army during World War II and was an avid University of North Carolina Tarheel basketball and football fan. Larry was preceded in death by his step-daughter, Nancy Smith, in 2004. He is survived by his wife, Peggy Winborne of Tallahassee, FL; daughters, Terry Eckenrode and husband Scott of Allentown, PA and Susan Large and husband Jessee of Wilson; step-daughter, Susan Russell of Lakenheath, England; sister-in-law, Bobbie Winborne of Scotland Neck; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends after the service at the cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Letchworth Funeral Home in Scotland Neck.
