Leah Wrae Futrell, age 81, of Severn, passed away at her home in Severn on November 18, 2022

She was born on December 18, 1940, to Ray and Raba Futrell in Severn. Leah graduated with an associate degree from Paul D. Camp Community College in Franklin.  She was a member of the Severn Baptist Church. Leah drove long distance trucks for eighteen years and then was the owner and operator of Daisy Mae’s Diner.  In her earlier years she enjoyed going to Atlantic beach with her family to visit and fish.  She had a tremendous love of crocheting and giving the blankets that she made to friends and family.

She was preceded in death by mother, Raba Taylor Futrell and father, Ray Earlie Futrell.

Leah is survived by her daughter, Beth Williams and her husband Curtis of Severn; son, Buddy Goodwin and his wife Angel of Suffolk; grandson, Allen Goodwin and his wife Christina of Suffolk; granddaughters, Carol Harrington and her husband Ron of Franklin, Carlie Harrell of Suffolk, Cheyenne Salmon of Napa, CA, Justina Pablo of Conway and grandson Christian Pablo of Severn.  Also surviving are eleven great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends anytime at the home.

Graveside memorial services will be held on Saturday, December 10, 2022, at 2:00 pm at the Severn Cemetery.

The family would like to thank all the aids and nurses from Community Health and Hospice for all they did for Leah.

I am so sorry to hear about Daisy Mae’s passing. When I was 16 she gave me my first job and kept me until I moved away for college. I never tired of hearing her stories or the things she taught me. You are loved and missed. Beth I’m here if you need anything. Sending love and prayers.
