WINDSOR, NC – Linda Ayers Mizelle, age 70, Old US Hwy 17, passed away on Monday, March 20, 2023 at the ECU Health Bertie Hospital in Windsor surrounded by her family.

Linda was born on March 10, 1953 to Roy Ayers and Crettie Castelloe Ayers in Roanoke, Virginia. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend. Linda fought a courageous battle and has now won the fight against cancer. She had a special bond with her beloved fur baby Chloe. As long as her health permitted, she enjoyed traveling with her daughter and other girlfriends, watching the game show network, watching her children and grandchildren play sports, and communicating with her friends through the wonderful world of technology and messenger. One of her greatest joys in life was meeting her great grandson, Hunter and spend time with him. Linda was loved by her friends and family and will be deeply missed.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Christopher Lee Morris, a brother, Horace Ayers, and a sister, Mary Thomas.

Linda is survived by her daughter, Dawn Pridgen and husband Billy of Murfreesboro; a son, Ricky Morris and wife Jennifer of Windsor; four grandsons, James Pridgen and wife Chelsea of Murfreesboro, Will Pridgen and wife Lydia of Como, Josh Morris, and Caleb Morris, both of Windsor; a great grandson, Hunter James Pridgen; fiancé, Garry Cale of Windsor; and a brother, Ronnie Ayers and wife Janice of Windsor; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life memorial service will be held on Friday, March 24, 2023, at 2:00 pm at the Askewville Baptist Church with Pastor Zachary Hicks and Pastor Sandy Outlaw officiating. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm and other times at the home of her son, Ricky Morris.

The family extends a special heartfelt thank you to Dr. Heather White and the Staff at ECU Health Bertie Hospital for their relentless and unwavering care and love shown to Linda during her illness.
