CHESAPEAKE, VA – Linda Jones Thompson, age 78, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 15, 2021 at Autumn Care of Chesapeake in Chesapeake, VA.
Mrs. Thompson was born on September 30, 1942 to Samuel Paul Jones and Estelle Bass Jones in Hertford County, NC. Linda cherished her family and enjoyed getting them all together as often as possible. She loved to spend time outdoors doing yard work and gardening. She enjoyed traveling. The one thing she seem to get great pleasure out of was playing bingo and she was very good at it. She was loved by many and will be deeply missed by all that knew her.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her children’s father, Hillary “Punk” Thompson, sisters; Frances Geouge, Lena Digman, Janie Faison, Evelyn Brown, and Ruby Colston; and brother’s, Alton and Paul Jones, and her significant other, Avery Marcum.
Linda is survived by three daughters, Anna Marie Bottum and husband Joseph of Chesapeake, VA, Patty Ann Mines and husband Thomas W. of Portsmouth, VA, and Patsy Ann Thompson of St. Mary’s, GA; Granddaughter, Taylor Nicole Bibens and husband Joshua of Spotsylvania, VA; great-grandson, Mason Bibens; two brothers, Hilton Jones and wife Doris of Hampton, VA, and Bernard Jones of Florida; and a sister, Alice Smith of Wilmington, NC.
A celebration of life memorial services will be held on Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at 11:00 am at the Stoney Creek Cemetery in Ahoskie, NC with Rev. Anita Thompson officiating.
