RICH SQUARE -Luther Donald Glover Jr., age 89, of Rich Square, passed away on Saturday, January 22, 2022 after a period of declining health.

Gooney was born on August 7, 1932 to Luther and Bernice Johnson Glover in Roxobel, NC. He worked for the FBI for one year and served in the United States Air Force for four years. Gooney owned an Oil Company and Service Station, always willing to help anyone in need. He enjoyed playing poker, hunting, rabbit dogs, and his chickens, especially giving away their fresh eggs to family and friends. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren.

Gooney was preceded in death by his father, Luther Donald Glover Sr., and his mother, Bernice Glover.

Left to cherish Gooney’s memory is his wife, Gail of the home, daughter, Heather Glover Newsome and husband Jonathan of Jackson; son, Luther Glover III of Margarettsville; two sisters, Bettye Umphlette, and Jean Sutphin, both of Suffolk; two grandsons, Luther Glover IV of Margarettsville, and Steven Everett Sumner of Jackson; and one granddaughter, Sarah Gail Sumner of Jackson.

There will be a private family celebration of life service.

The family wishes to express a special thanks to his loving caregivers Gretchen Fleetwood and Yvonne Spivey, as well as his hospice nurse, Carra Lane, for their compassionate care and assistance.
