Lydia Stallings Hale, age 73, of Scotland Neck, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Thursday, November 12, 2020.
She was born on December 26, 1946 to the late Robert Lavern and Florine Williams Stallings in Scotland Neck. She was married to Howard “PeeWee” Hale on July 7, 1963 and they enjoyed fifty-seven years of marriage. Lydia was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Scotland Neck, where she taught Sunday School. In her younger years, she enjoyed going to the beach and collecting seashells. Lydia loved music, dancing, and bird watching. She was especially good at bird identification. For the past thirteen years her grandson, Parker, was the light of her life.
In addition to her parents Lydia was preceded in death by her son, Howard Jeffrey Hale; and her brothers, Clarence Walker Stallings and Edwin Stallings.
Lydia is survived by her husband, Howard “PeeWee” Hale of the home; her daughter, Lorie Hale Davenport of New Bern; her sister, Pat Stallings Lucas of Scotland Neck; her brothers, Herbert Stallings and wife Elizabeth of Jackson and Robert “Coobie” Stallings and wife Nellie of Scotland Neck; her grandson, Parker Davenport of New Bern.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Friday, November 13, 2020 from 7:00-8:00 p.m. at Letchworth-Sykes Funeral Service in Scotland Neck.
A celebration of life graveside service will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Sunnyside Cemetery in Scotland Neck, with Rev. Paul Spradley officiating.
The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Mattie Clark, Lisa Williams, and the ladies of Community Hospice for all the help and care they showed to Lydia during her illness.
