KNIGHTDALE – Mabel Long Vinson, 86, of the 1000 block of Pine Forest Trail, formerly of Murfreesboro, NC, died Sunday, July 12, 2009, at Rex Hospital in Raleigh.
Mrs. Vinson was born in Horry County, SC, a daughter of the late Jessie Evant and Lizzie Hewitt Long.
She was the widow of John Elton Vinson, a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, and a homemaker. She was a member of Meherrin Baptist Church.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Mary Vinson Crozier of Elsberry, MO; her son, Dan Vinson of Raleigh, NC; a sister, Eva Long Elderdice of Loris, SC; six grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Besides her husband, Mrs. Vinson was predeceased by two sons, John Edwin Vinson and Robert Elton Vinson.
A celebration of life service will be conducted on Thursday, July 16, 2009, at 2:00 p.m., at Meherrin Baptist Church with the Rev. Kevin Mullen and Rev. Josh Parsons officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Garrett-Jones Funeral Home, Ahoskie, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Flowers will be welcomed or donations may be made in Mrs. Vinson‚??s memory to Meherrin Baptist Church, 519 Meherrin Lane, Murfreesboro, NC, 27855, or to the Robert Packard Research Center for ALS , John Hopkins Hospital, 5801 Smith Avenue/McAuley Suite 110, Baltimore, MD, 21209-3652.

When I received Danny’s email the other day I was shocked and saddened. I know Mabel is at home now with the Lord and her beloved husband.
Danny Ray, you take solace that your Mom is well now and looking beautiful and in no pain or discomfort.

Aunt Mabel is one of my most favorite aunts. She always made me feel special. She was beautiful in every way. I have treasured memories of her from my childhood. She will always have a special place in my heart. She will never be forgotten.
Dan & family, so sorry to hear your sad news, will be thinking of you and saying a prayer for you and your Mom.

I was so sorry to hear about Aunt Mable.I know the loss of a parent is a terrible thing, but remember the good times and trust in God to guide and comfort you.I imagine that Aunt Mable and Daddy and all the rest of her brothers and sisters are having a grand reuion .
