AULANDER, NC – Marilyn “Rose” Cooke Conner, age 75, passed away on August 8, 2017 at the Ahoskie House of Ahoskie, NC.
Mrs. Conner was born on February 11, 1942 to Samuel and Annie Harrington Cooke in Hertford County, NC. Rose was a dedicated member of Millennium Pentecostal Holiness Church, a Godly woman that loved her Lord. She served in many capacities, mainly with the youth during Vacation Bible School. Rose enjoyed sewing when she was younger. She worked as a scale master for Golden Peanut Company in Aulander for many years before retiring to take to the road traveling with her husband. Rose cherished the time she had riding the country side. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend.
Along with her parents, Rose was preceded in death by her son, Chris Conner, sister, Evelyn Cooke Rushing, and brother, William “Bill” Delbert Cooke.
Rose is survived by her loving husband William “Billy”, her son, William Barry Conner and wife Marie of Aulander; granddaughter, Crystal Alfaro and husband Juan of Aulander; grandson, Jeff Conner of Aulander, two great-grandsons; Anthony Alfaro and Bryce Conner, two great-granddaughters; Candace Alfaro and Brylie Conner, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 10, 2017, from 7:00 pm until 8:30 pm at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Ahoskie, NC, and other times at the home of her son, Barry.
A celebration of life funeral service will be held on Friday, August 11, 2017, at 11:00 am at the Millennium Pentecostal Holiness Church, Aulander, NC, with the Rev. Taylor Latham, officiating. Burial will follow at Aulander Cemetery.
