Marilyn Thomas Edmondson, 74 of Oak City, N. C., died Saturday, March 15, 2008 at Pitt County Memorial Hospital. She was born on September 11, 1933 in Fairfax, S.C. to the late Benjamin Franklin and Lilla Deer Thomas. A 1954 graduate of Wake Forest University, she moved to Oak City to teach school. For over 30 years, she taught in the public schools of Edgecombe and Martin Counties and she taught many young people to play the piano. An active member of Oak City Baptist Church, her past services include organist, choir member, music director and youth leader. She is predeceased in death by her husband, R.S. Edmondson, Jr.
Mrs. Edmondson is survived by her daughter, Marilyn Hesser and her husband, Douglas, and their children, Hannah, Matthew and Seth of Richmond, Virginia; her son, Sutton Edmondson and his wife Wanda, and their children, Hank and Schuyler of Oak City; a brother, Dr. Joseph Thomas and his wife Bettie of Denmark, S.C. and sisters, Anne Neil of Raleigh, N.C. and Adrienne Loadholt and her husband, H.M. of Fairfax, S.C.
