COLERAIN, NC – Marion Lassiter Dilday, age 83, passed away on August 5, 2020 at her home with her family by her side.
Mrs. Dilday was born in Bertie County, NC, on May 9, 1937, the daughter of the late Daniel Webster and Goldie Bradley Lassiter. Marion was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, working by her husband’s side on the farm and being very involved in her children’s and especially grandchildren’s activities. She loved cooking, gardening, both vegetables and flowers, and sewing. She was a longtime faithful member of Powellsville Baptist Church, where she served in many capacities, including the choir, Women on Missions, and VBS, for over 60 years. Marion was committed to serving her fellow community members, always cooking and carrying food or care packages to the bereaved, sick, or needy. She was loved by all and will be greatly missed.
Left to cherish her memory is her devoted husband, Robert Earl Dilday, two daughters, Joyce D. Brown and husband, Braxton, and Karen D. Hoggard and husband, Greg of Ahoskie, NC; two brothers, Daniel Earl Lassiter and wife, Sue, and Clarence Wayne Lassiter and wife, Betty of Aulander, NC; three granddaughters, Jessica Spruill and husband, Thomas of Colerain, NC, Tina Brown of Tarboro, NC, and Kristin Hoggard of Ahoskie, NC; and a grandson, Trent Hoggard of Ahoskie, NC.
The family will receive friends on Friday, August 7, 2020, from 7:00 pm until 8:30 pm at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Ahoskie, NC, and other times at the home.
A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2020, at 11:00 am at the Powellsville Baptist Church, Powellsville, NC, with Rev. Matt Miles, officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens, Ahoskie, NC.

Robert and family I have just learned of Marion’s death. I am so very sorry for your loss. I was in church with her for a few years and I learned what a dear lady she was. I’m so sorry to hear of Marion’s passing. She and Robert became friends through our dear friends Sadie and Carl Castello. I remember wonderful times we all spent together.
