Martha Cox Williams Young

AHOSKIE, NC – Martha Cox Williams Young, age 88, passed away on April 20, 2018 at her home.

Mrs. Young was born on June 14, 1929 to the late William Lee and Perla Mae Bryan Cox in Boykins, VA. Martha graduated from Aulander High School and went on to business school where she received an associate degree. She has done secretarial work most of her life. Martha is a member of Open Arms Church and enjoys crochet, reading, and word puzzles. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend that will be deeply missed by all that knew her.

Besides her parents, Martha was preceded in death by her first husband, Leroy Williams, her second husband, Marshall Freeman Young, a brother, Robert Cox, and a step-daughter, Jennifer Young.

Martha is survived by two daughters, Janice Babb and husband Dennis of Potecasi, NC, Diana Cannette and husband James of Winton, NC; son, Bernie Williams and wife Sharon of Aulander, NC; step-daughter, Diane Cooke of Aulander, NC; seven grandchildren, Debbie Jenkins, Denise David, Bob Cooke, Shay Arnette, Chris Williams, Kindrea Warren, and Caleb Cannette; seven great-grandchildren, Jordy Jenkins, Keelie Britt, Logan Jenkins, Gage Cooke, Chase Futrell, Lilliana Warren, and Evelyn Williams; and two great great-grandchildren; Easton Britt and Paisley Britt.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 22, 2018, from 5:00 pm until 6:00 pm at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Ahoskie, NC, and other times at the home.

A celebration of life funeral service will be held on Monday, April 23, 2018, at 2:00 pm at the Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service – Ahoskie Chapel, Ahoskie, NC, with Pastor Joe Lassiter, officiating. Burial will follow at Stoney Creek Cemetery, Ahoskie, NC.
