Martha Kirkland Mills, age 86, of Scotland Neck, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, January 24, 2020.
She was born on August 10, 1933 to David and Lillie Kirkland in Scotland Neck. Martha was a homemaker and loved to cook. She loved taking care of her boys as they were her pride and joy.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Lillie Lynch Kirkland; her father, David D. Kirkland; her husband, Al Gene Mills; her sister, Nita Kirkland Pearce; and her brother, Rev. David Kirkland.
Martha is survived by her sons, Gregory Mills and wife Anita of Scotland Neck and Brian Mills and wife Elaine of Scotland Neck; her sister, Iris Kirkland Bowen of Williamston; two granddaughters, Ashley Mills Dompierre of Scotland Neck, who dedicated much of her time to taking care of her grandmother, and Katie Mills of Raleigh; and her grandson, Greg Mills of Scotland Neck.
A celebration of life graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 27, 2020 at Sunnyside Cemetery in Scotland Neck, with Rev. Aubrey Spear and Anison Kirkland officiating. The family will visit with friends following the graveside service.
