“God writes the best love stories”

MURFREESBORO, NC – Marvin Nathaniel Garris, Sr., age 73, of US Hwy. 158, passed away on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at his home. On January 31, 2022, Earline “Dale” Garris, age 70, grabbed her angel wings and went chasing after her husband following the “Love of her life”.

Marvin was born on April 26, 1948 to John William Garris and Goldie Nicholson Garris in Northampton County, NC. Dale was born on April 30, 1951 to Walter Glenn Daniels, Sr and Bular Brown Daniels in Hertford County, NC.  Their love story started when Marvin and Dale met and they had been “best friends” and married for more than 52 years.  They were self-employed together for many years and enjoyed selling Little Debbie cakes and snacks in the Franklin and Suffolk territory.  During those years, not many people left the house without enjoying a “Little Debbie” cake.  Marvin had a true love of music.  He started playing his guitar and singing in the 70s, spending countless hours performing and playing in local bands. Over the years, Dale supported him in his bands and finally decided to join him by becoming his drummer.  Their most favorite memories were Marvin playing his bass guitar and singing while Dale played drums in the Double Eagle Band.  Marvin loved tinkering on and collecting classic vehicles and Dale loved buying them for him.  They showed them in car shows and drove them in local parades.  When you saw one, you saw the other, often even noticing that they were dressed alike.  They were inseparable even to the end.  Marvin and Dale had a strong love for their family and friends and will be greatly missed by all who knew them.  Their love story will continue into their next chapter in eternity.

Along with their parents, they were preceded in death by four brothers, Quinton Garris, William Garris, Walter Daniels and Billy Lee Daniels and two sisters, Thadys Simmons and Mary “Pinky” Daniels Vann.

Marvin and Dale are survived by a daughter, Kimberly King and husband Mark of Winton; a son, Bubba Garris, Jr. and wife Marie of Rich Square; two grandsons, Nate Garris and wife Hannah of Murfreesboro, and Gage King of Winton; three granddaughters, Gracie King of Winton, Tina Adkins and husband Chris of Aulander, and Ivey Lassiter of Rich Square; and two great-grandsons, Ryder, and Waylon Adkins; brother John Roger Daniels and wife Pearl of Murfreesboro, NC.

A celebration of life memorial will be on Saturday, February 12, 2022 from 6:00 pm until 8:30 pm at the home of Marvin and Dale Garris, 830 US Hwy 158 West, Murfreesboro, NC 27855

My fondest memories were going to Marvin and Dale’s house with my mama and daddy, and they playing music and just enjoying family. That was back in times when you still visited family on a regular basis. Gathering at one’s house or the other. Continue your angelic love story in heaven.
