Marvin Lester Gibson, Jr., age 87, of Wilson, passed away on September 3, 2015 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on April 16, 1928 to Marvin and Georgia Bryant in Murfreesboro, NC. Marvin served in the United States Army and spent most of his life in public service. He enjoyed music, spending time with his family and friends, always giving to those in need. Loved telling stories about his life and sharing pictures of family. Marvin would spend most days in McDonalds talking with everyone, never meeting a stranger. He really enjoyed the holidays, especially Christmas.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Doretta Maxton, and two brothers, Earl E. and John Gilbert Gibson.

Marvin is survived by his , Son, Bryant Gibson and his wife Charlotte of Wilson; three grandsons, Cameron Bryant, Grayson Ellis, and Bryson Harris Gibson all of Wilson, a sister-in-law, Trudy Gibson of Murfreesboro, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 8, 2015, from 1:00 pm until 1:45 pm with a celebration of life service to follow at 2:00 pm at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service Chapel, Ahoskie, NC with the Rev. Doug Radford officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Murfreesboro, NC.
