Mary Elizabeth (Emmy) Cooke died peacefully November 3, 2022.

Although challenged by severe cerebral palsy, Emmy packed a full life into the short time that she was with us. Her quiet peace and patience were remarkable and inspiring. Emmy was a beautiful spirit and was loved by all who were blessed to know her. She will be sorely and deeply missed.

Emmy is survived by Liz and Rocky Cooke (parents), Nona Malcom Mason and Woody Mason (grandparents), Julie Trotter (aunt), Billy Cooke (uncle), and many more relatives and friends who loved her dearly. She was predeceased by Rooney Malcom (grandfather) and Billy and Mary Cooke (grandparents).

We are grateful to Transitions Kids for their palliative care and hospice support.

In lieu of flowers, we request donations to Sylvan Heights Bird Park (500 Sylvan Heights Park Way, Scotland Neck, NC 27874), Give Kids the World Village (210 S Bass Rd, Kissimmee, FL 34746) or Transitions Kids (250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607).

Emmy had a beautiful smile. We loved having her in school with us, she brightened the classroom. Love and sunshine followed her. Wonderful memories remain.

Emmy’s smile always began with gentle warmth—as on a fine Spring day—then blossomed into radiant joy. Her smile will shine on in our hearts forever.
