Mary Elizabeth Savage Wommack, a long-time resident of Weldon, NC, died Wednesday the 3rd of June at UNC Chapel Hill.
Born in 1919 in Edgecombe County, Mary Elizabeth was raised in Tarboro, NC by her beloved Aunt Molly Felton of Tarboro, NC. Her parents were Florence Felton Savage and Job Kitchin Savage, Sr. She graduated from Tarboro High School and attended college at Louisburg College. She worked as a dental assistant then married Spencer Thomas Wommack, Jr. of Scotland Neck, NC in 1942.
She is survived by her elder brother Job Kitchin Savage, Jr. She is preceded in death by her sister Edith Priscilla Savage Waters who died in 2000 and her husband Spencer Thomas Wommack, Jr. who died in 1996. She is survived by her seven children: Spencer T. Wommack, IV; Richard Felton Wommack; Florence Elizabeth Wommack Cashion; Lucy Priscilla Wommack Burnette; Julie Carol Wommack Stewart; Dolly Joyner Wommack; and Job Savage Wommack. She is also survived by nineteen grandchildren and twenty-six great grandchildren.
Words cannot express how deeply she was loved and how much she will be missed.
The family service will be held Saturday June 6, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Savage Family Cemetery in Speed, NC.
