AHOSKIE, NC – Michael Anthony Byrum, age 60, passed away on May 17, 2021, at his home, with his family by his side.

Mr. Byrum was born in Hertford County, NC, on May 27, 1960 the son of the late Thellie Thomas and Modie Mizelle Byrum. He was maintenance manager at Eddie Kane Steel and a member of Brantley’s Grove Baptist Church. He enjoyed many activities, but his favorite past time was tinkering on his 69 Chevy truck. Michael, known as “Cracker Jack” in the logging woods, and “PA PA” to his girls, was a faithful, devoted husband to his wife, Kathy and a loving father and grandfather. He was a good, kind, and gentle soul who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Michael is survived by his loving wife, Kathy Luke Byrum, his daughter, Amanda Beachboard and husband, Dammion of Askewville, NC; and three granddaughters, Kaydee Beachboard, Lillie Beachboard, and Sadie Beachboard, of Askewville, NC.

The family will receive friends on Friday, May 21, 2021, from 7:00 pm until 8:30 pm at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Ahoskie, NC, for a time of remembrance and celebration of the life of Michael, and other times at the home.

A private memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 22, 2021, at 2:00 pm at the Bethel Assembly of God Church, Askewville, NC.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made directly to the American Cancer Society, 930 Wellness Drive, Greenville, NC, 27834; or you may donate online by clicking here.
