Miriam Shearin Boyd

Miriam Shearin Boyd, 96, passed away on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at Bryan Health and Rehabilitation in Scotland Neck.

Miriam was born on February 12, 1922 in Scotland Neck, NC to the late John Luther Shearin and Helen Louise Allsbrook Shearin.  A loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Miriam loved her family, crossword puzzles, reading, sewing, and watching Duke basketball.  She attended Blackstone College in Blackstone, VA and was a member of Scotland Neck United Methodist Church.  Miriam worked as a Bookkeeper for Shields Fertilizer Company in Scotland Neck for many years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Jean Crowden and Jane Holland.

Miriam is survived by her devoted husband, James Elisha Boyd; her loving daughters, Becky Boyd Brittle and husband Tildon of Greenville and Claudia Boyd Harrell of Scotland Neck; her grandchildren, Matt Harrell, Roberta Taylor, Richard Brittle, and Boyd Brittle; and her great-grandchildren, Hope Harrell, Triston Harrell, Finn Taylor, Bella Taylor, Brandon Brittle, Jake Brittle, and Becca Brittle.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, February 23, 2018 at Letchworth-Sykes Funeral Service in Scotland Neck.

A celebration of life graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at the Baptist Cemetery in Scotland Neck.  The Reverend Dusty Sprouse will be presiding.
