MURFREESBORO, NC – Miss Jessica Dianne Futrell, age 14, passed away on September 17, 2016 at her home, leaving this earth way to soon.

Jessica was born on October 17, 2001 to Robert and Elizabeth Colombo Futrell in Ahoskie, NC. She was smart, outgoing, funny, and had a very bright future ahead of her. She was a freshman at Squire Center Early College in Gaston, NC where she was the Vice-President of her class, looking forward to being able to transfer to the School of Math and Science next year, with her main goal to attend MIT and to be in competition with Apple. Jessica was a video game enthusiast, especially with her PS4 and Xbox 360. She was looking forward to the new band, where she could truly express her love of music. The trumpet was her favorite instrument but she had self-taught herself to play the guitar and piano as well. She was looking forward to joining the JROTC. Jessica adored her friends. She enjoyed the yearly trips to White Lake, where she would spend most of her time kayaking. Jessica was always ready and willing to try and attempt something new. She loved Sponge Bob, Pikachu, all animals, four wheeler riding, the mountains, pineapple, drawing, and making things out of paper. Her favorite color was orange, even asking for an orange car. Jessica will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Along with her parents, Jessica is survived by her, paternal grandparents, Robert M. Sr. and Dianne Futrell, of Murfreesboro; maternal grandparents, Patricia and Peter Colombo of New Windsor, NY, and Donald and Judy Nugent of Soldotna, AL; uncle, Eric Colombo of New Windsor, NY, and a host of great aunts and uncles, and several cousins.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 20, 2016, from 7:00 pm until 8:30 pm at Garrett-Sykes Memorial Chapel-Murfreesboro, Murfreesboro, NC, and other times at the home.

A celebration of life funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 21, 2016, at 2:00 pm at the Meherrin Baptist Church, Murfreesboro, NC, with the Rev. David Ross, officiating.
