AHOSKIE – Murtie Virginia Dunlow Harrell, age 90, of the 100 block of Daley Rd., died Thursday, June 3, 2010, at Rich Square Health Care Center.
Mrs. Harrell was born on January 17, 1920, in Bertie County, a daughter of the late Charlie and Mary Dunlow Dunlow. She was a member of Askewville Baptist Church and was a retired seamstress. She was the widow of J. Robert Harrell.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Judy H. Vinson and husband, Don of Winton, NC; her sons, James R. ‘Duck’ Harrell and wife, Jerri, and Charles R. ‘Possum’ Harrell and wife Lorraine, all of Ahoskie; and a daughter-in-law, Jeanette Harrell Mayle of Pleasant Hill, NC. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Michael Harrell, Lisa Pope, Shannon H. Smith, Jason Harrell and Christy V. Hodges; and six great grandchildren. Besides her parents and husband, Mrs. Harrell was predeceased by a son, Bobby R. ‘Frog’ Harrell.
A celebration of life service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 6, 2010, at Garrett-Jones Funeral Home, with the Rev. Forrest Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Stoney Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7:00 until 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, and other times at the home of ‘Duck’ and Jerri Harrell.
To the family of Mrs Harrell it is a great loss. May God be with each and everyone of you as you now journey without her. Mrs Harell was a great lady and will be missed.
