AULANDER, NC – Nathan Tommy Harris, age 74, of Millennium Road, passed away on Thursday, May 14, 2020 at the Vidant Roanoke Chowan Hospital in Ahoskie, NC.
Tommy was born on November 20, 1945 to Robert and Margaret Taylor Harris in Martin County, NC. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam war. Tommy cherished his country and his family, especially his grandchildren which lovingly called him Papa. He retired from working as a lineman for the power company and spent his spare time playing his guitar. He enjoyed the picking and grinning, as he would call it. Tommy was loved by many and will be deeply missed by all that knew him.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Hollis, and a brother, William Earl Harris.
Tommy is survived by his wife Dolly Faye, two daughters, Theresa Lynn Hayes, and Suzie Lassiter and husband Corey, both of Aulander; three granddaughters, Kayla Skye Hayes, Sierra Rain Hayes, and Amanda Lynn Lassiter; one grandson, Cody Wayne Lassiter; two sisters, Maggie Bearga and Louise Baker; two brothers, Bobby Harris and Rufus Harris; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Due to the circumstances with COVID-19 restrictions from the CDC and NC Board of Funeral Service, family and friends are welcome to come pay their respects and sign the guest book for Tommy on Saturday, May 16, 2020, from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Ahoskie, NC.
A celebration of life graveside service will be held on Sunday, May 17, 2020, at 2:00 pm at the Aulander Cemetery, with Rev. Taylor Latham officiating.
