Mrs. Paline Jernigan Rountree Robertson, age 91 died at the Roanoke Chowan Hospital in Ahoskie on Sunday, March 29, 2009. She was born in Bertie County to the late Elizabeth ‘Lizzy’ White Jernigan and the late George ‘Pig’ Jernigan. She was married to the late William G. Rountree, Sr. and to this marriage was born five children. Following the death of Mr. Rountree she later married the late Irvin Robertson. Mrs. Robertson was a devoted housewife whom loved her family very much. She loved gardening and working with flowers. She was a Christian lady whom loved the Lord. Also preceding her in death are her two brothers: Starky and Carlie Jernigan.

Survivors include three daughters; Elizabeth Jenkins and her husband George of Woodland, North Carolina Grace Hodges of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina and Vickie Jones and her husband Fred of Richmond, Virginia, two sons; Billy Rountree, Jr. of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina and L.G. Rountree and his wife Brenda of Jacksonville, Florida, five sisters; Nettie White and her husband Warren, Annie Mae Hill, Edna Jernigan, Vergie Mizelle and Ruby White all of Askewville, North Carolina. Surviving are eleven grandchildren, Jay, Chip and Mike Jenkins, Eddie Hodges, Paul and Kyle Harris, Seretha Pittman, William Rountree, III, Stacy Smith, Bill Cooke and Lonnie Rountree, Jr. Also surviving are seventeen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

Kym, Sloane and my thoughts are with everyone during this period of transition. Granny was a wonderful person whose contribution to all our lives is so apparent from the extension of her family matriarchy. We should celebrate the joy of her life and the lives she touched.

The Lord has blessed you with her presents for all this time here on earth,her love was shared with all who new and loved her. Now is the Lords time to reward her and welcome her into his house forever and ever. We loved her too.
