Pattie Elizabeth Fleming Casper

Pattie Elizabeth Fleming Casper, 86, passed away on Friday, March 9, 2018 at the Edgecombe Health and Rehabilitation Center in Tarboro.

Pattie was born in Halifax County, NC on April 12, 1931 to the late Mamie and Shelby Fleming.  She was a member of the Oak City Baptist Church, where she was active in the women’s group and Sunday School Class for many years.  Pattie was married to Otis Windell Casper on December 18, 1948 for 65 years.  She was truly a farmer’s wife.  In addition, she worked for several years in the cafeteria at Hobgood Academy.  She and her daughter, Linda, operated Casper’s Catering Service until her health declined and she was no longer able to bake.  Many will remember her for the many desserts and cakes she made over the years.  She and Otis loved to spend as much time as possible at the beach until their health declined.  She lived for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who called her “Baba”.  Pattie loved her family and friends dearly and took joy in doing things for others.  She will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and all those who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents, Pattie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Otis Windell Casper; an infant son, Michael; and her brother, Shelby Fleming, Jr.

Pattie is survived by her two children; daughter, Linda Brown married to Eddie Brown, their daughter, Christina Ross and her husband Chris Ross, and their two children, Payton and Riley Ross; son, Allen Casper and his three sons, Whit, Lee, and Sam Casper.  She also leaves behind a daughter-in-law, Kristy Casper; a sister, Lou Taylor; a sister-in-law, Gladys Fleming; a loving caregiver, Florence Harris; and a host of family and many dear friends.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at the Oak City Baptist Church.

A celebration of life funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 11, 2018 at the Oak City Baptist Church in Oak City.  Interment will follow at the Oak City Cemetery.  The Reverend Delmus Ayers will be presiding.
