Phillip Wayne Osborne, age 36, of Scotland Neck, passed away on Sunday, October 21, 2018 at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.
He was born on August 5, 1982 to Terry and Janet Osborne of Scotland Neck. Phillip attended Hobgood Academy. He was self-employed as a home improvement contractor and enjoyed working. Occasionally he would take time away from work to fish, but mostly Phillip enjoyed his work.
He was preceded in death by his father, Terry Wayne Osborne; and his grandmother, Norma “Ma” Eason Smith.
Phillip is survived by his mother, Janet S. Harrell and her husband Keith of Scotland Neck; his daughter, Paige Osborne of Roanoke Rapids; his grandfather, Tony Smith of Scotland Neck; his step-sister, Jessi H. Wood and her husband Brent of Skippers; his step-brother, Macon Harrell of Scotland Neck; and his friend, Ashley Waters of Scotland Neck.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Letchworth-Sykes Funeral Service in Scotland Neck.
A celebration of life graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 25, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Sunnyside Cemetery in Scotland Neck, with the Rev. Paul Spradley officiating.

Janet. I am so sorry for your loss it is a pain only a mother can feel. I hate for you to know this loss. If you ever need me please call. Unless you have experienced it you just don’t know. I will not tell you it gets easier however you just learn to live with the pain. I love you.

Dear Janet and family… I am so very sorry for your loss of Phillip.
Fortunately, death is only a temporary part of life. Jesus promised us a wonderful resurrection of the dead (John 5:28,29/1 Thessalonians 4:13, 14), so we have the hope of being reunited with our deceased loved ones. In the meantime, even though the pain of loss through death may sometimes seem insurmountable, rest assured that God will give you the strength necessary to endure the coming months (Psalm 46:1).
