A true force of nature entered into this world on October 24, 1939 and departed on October 3, 2018. Priscilla Bellamy Powery, a native North Carolinian, was educated at what was then known as the Women’ s College at University of North Carolina, Greensboro. She moved to live with a favorite Aunt in Takoma Park, Maryland where she finished a degree in Elementary Education and met the love of her life, David D. Powery. They married in July of 1964 and made their home in Silver Spring Maryland. Together with her husband, she raised two daughters Linnea B. Powery, a Special Educator with Montgomery County Public Schools in Maryland, and Lauren M. Chapman, an independent business owner in Orange Park, Florida.

Priscilla earned her masters degree in Early Childhood Education while raising a family and teaching first and second graders at Meadow Hall Elementary for 42 years. Upon her retirement, she moved to Florida in 2005. She celebrated 54 years of marriage with David this year. Mrs. Powery leaves behind her devoted husband, David, 2 wonderful daughters, Linnea Powery, Lauren Chapman (Rick), granddaughters, Krystal Hamrick (Jorden) and Mandy Chapman (Danial), great granddaughters, Taylor, Layla, and Rhylynn, great grandson, Camden, her surviving brother, Phes Bellamy (Rose), Sister in law, Shirley Bellamy, nieces and nephews, Shannon McCollum, Frances Kizziah, John Bellamy, Mark Bellamy, Owen Holt Bellamy, Keith Bellamy, and Ross Bellamy, cousins, David Brownwood, Tom Woodall and Jerry Woodall, and extended family and friends.

A celebration of life graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at Elmwood Cemetery in Enfield, NC.  The Reverend Stephen Bradley will be presiding.
