Raymond Eve “Junior” Avery, Jr., 78, died Saturday, November 3, 2007.
A memorial graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 6, 2007 at Sunnyside Cemetery in Scotland Neck. The Reverend Doctor James Drake will be presiding.
Junior was a Veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving in the U.S. Air Force. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanette Phelps Avery; his son, Thomas Howard Ainsley; and his parents, Raymond and Rosa Avery.
He is survived by his son, Michael Kenneth Avery and wife Beverly of Jacksonville, FL; daughters, Gloria Klar and husband Harry of Jacksonville, FL, Lois Ann Avery of Erwin, Gloria Gibbs and husband Jackie of Scotland Neck, Dianne Outlaw and husband J.D. of Aulander, and Terri Williams and Amos Huffman of Gretna, VA; sisters, Betty Avery of Scotland Neck and Katherine Craft of Oak City; brother, Robert Avery and wife Armida of Sierra Vista, AZ; daughter-in-law, Betty Ainsley of Kill Devil Hills; fifteen grandchildren; and twenty-two great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday, November 5, 2007 at Letchworth Funeral Home in Scotland Neck.
