Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of fifty plus years  Ruth Rose Felton,  his daughter, Sherry R. Felton and fiance’,  Sonny Jernigan of Aulander, NC; a nephew/son, Michael Henry and wife, Lorrie of Eure, NC; two brothers, Bobby Askew and wife, Janet of Moyock, NC, William Askew and wife, Tammy of Winton, NC; three sisters, Erlene Joyner and husband, Allen of Aulander, NC, Vicki Sharp and husband, Mark, of Gibsonville, NC, and Brenda Overton and husband, Sherwood of Ahoskie, NC; also two grandsons, Joshua Gaudette, and Benjamin Jernigan; and a granddaughter, Danielle Henry.

The family will receive friends on Friday, January 13, 2017, from 7:00 pm until 8:30 pm at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Ahoskie, NC, and other times at the home.

A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2017, at 2:00 pm at the Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service – Ahoskie Chapel, with Rev. Paul Ange officiating.  Burial will follow in Ahoskie Cemetery.

I have known “Uncle” Raymond all my life it seems. Such a close friend to my Dad while I was growing up. He is one that treated you like family even if there was no blood connection…such an amazing person. Brien and I will be praying for the family for peace and healing during this difficult time.

In 1974 Raymond would come down to the Aetna which he was the manager, after closing 10:30 pm to sell me gas so I could get back to the military base. The gas was being rationed.. He was a true good person. Wish we had more like him. I know he’s in Heaven! God Bless you Raymond. Love you my brother!

When I was younger, I remember Raymond running the service station on Memorial Dr.; thought he was one of the nicest people I had ever met! Ruth, I’m so sorry for your loss.
