Robert Allen Barnes, Sr.

AHOSKIE – Robert Allen Barnes, Sr., age 63, of the 100 block of Evergreen Street, died Tuesday, May 24, 2011, at his home.

Mr. Barnes was born in Hertford County on July 2, 1947, a son of the late Albert and Lucille Lassiter Barnes Slade. He was a retired truck driver. Besides his parents, Robert was also predeceased by his sister, Lila Gray Jernigan, a brother, Larry Barnes, and his step-father, Troy Slade.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Patricia Morris Barnes; three daughters, Maryann Aycock of Kill Devil Hills, NC, Lucy B. LaRue of Windsor, NC, and Tiffany Clark of the home; two sons, Robert Allen Barnes, Jr. and Troy Nicholas Barnes, both of the home; three brothers, Albert Barnes of Tampa, FL, Thomas Barnes of Verona, VA, and David Barnes of Aulander, NC. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

A celebration of life memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 27, 2011, at Oak Grove Baptist Church, Aulander, with the Rev. Greg Hurdle officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the family.
