CONWAY, NC – Rosa Roane “Rose” Sumner, age 76, of Dusty Hill Road, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 12, 2021 at the Northampton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Jackson, NC.

Mrs. Sumner was born on December 10, 1944 to Junious Vance Roane, Sr. and Rosa Leggett Roane in Bertie County, North Carolina. She was a faithful member of Lasker Baptist Church serving as a deacon and in many other capacities. Rose retired after 30 years as the Clerk for the Board of Commissioners for Northampton County and the County Managers office. She also served on the Board of Directors and the Ladies Auxiliary for Pine Forest Rest Home in Potecasi, NC. She loved her family dearly and enjoyed spending time with them. She enjoyed working in her flowers, reading, and puzzling. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend to many. Rose will be deeply missed by all that knew her.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Junious Vance Roane, Jr., and a sister, Ethel Roane Vick.

Left to cherish Rose’s memory is her devoted husband of fifty-eight years, Ted, two sons, Teddy Neal Sumner and wife Joyce of Lasker, NC, and Christopher Lyle Sumner and wife Leslee of Murfreesboro, NC; two granddaughters, Crystal Mann and husband Matt of Conway, and Ciara Sumner of Murfreesboro; two grandsons, Michael Sumner of Lasker, and Cashton Sumner of Murfreesboro; one great-granddaughter, Olive Renee’  Mann of Conway; a brother, William Roane of Moscow, TN, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 from 6:30 pm until 8:00 pm at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Rich Square, NC and other times at the home.

A celebration of life memorial service will be held on Wednesday, September 15, 2021, at 11:00 am at the Lasker Cemetery, Lasker, NC, with Rev. Ricky Barnes officiating

So sorry to hear about your loss but I know and believe that our heavenly Father will never put more on us that we cannot bear. So keep the faith and stay strong in the Lord. He blessed us with a beautiful servant and friend for many years and we are thankful and blessed for it.
