Roy Clayton Braddy, 78, of Enfield, passed away on February 8, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born on January 3, 1942 to Frank and Louise Washington Braddy in Hobgood, NC. Clayton was married to the love of his life and his favorite dancing partner, Sybil Wilkerson Braddy on September 1, 1962. He retired with 30 years of service to the North Carolina Department of Correction Enterprise Laundries-Laundry Manager. He also retired with a rank of E6 Staff Sergeant after 20 years of service to the North Carolina National Guard. Clayton was a member of the Scotland Neck Junior Order Council 530, the National Association for Institutional Laundry Management, and the “Mule Shed” Hunting Club. He was best described as a man of few words, but in those words, he spoke with love and wisdom to his family and friends especially when he spent time cooking, fishing, hunting, camping and golfing. As a life-long resident of Halifax County, Clayton contributed to the growth of his community through life-long support of organizations like Hobgood Academy, Scotfield Country Club and Dawson Baptist Church. Clayton was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend who will be dearly missed.
Clayton is preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Jimmy Ray Braddy and Hilton Earl Braddy.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife of 57 years, Sybil of the home; his daughter, Laura B. Clark and her companion, JD of Tarboro; his son, Clay Braddy and his wife Mary Frances of Roper; a brother, Gene Braddy and his wife, Vicky of Enfield; a sister-in-law, JoAnn Braddy of Enfield; two granddaughters, Morgan and Mandy; three grandsons, Cal, Jeremy and Nick; a great-granddaughter, Ryleigh Mae; a great-grandson, Abel and nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a very heartfelt thank you to Shelly and Sabrina and the entire staff of Nash Hospice and Palliative Care.

Know my heartfelt prayers are with you all and I know God will wrap His arms around you and give you the strength you all need. Laura, I will never forget your “Lady” and the pride on your family’s faces as was mine for the great job you did and the good memories of HA with your Mama and Daddy yelling for you and Clay right along with me for mine and all of the years for our kids.
