AULANDER, NC – Roy Franklin Cloe, Sr., age 58, passed away on October 27, 2018 at the Vidant Cancer Center in Greenville, NC, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his sons and wife.

He was born in Harvey, IL, on August 4, 1960, a son of Charles Franklin and Betty Hoggard Cloe. Roy was a well-respected roofer in the area, serving many in the area with his skills. He loved to work, fish, and most of all, spend time with his grandchildren. Roy was a devoted husband and father and was strong to the last moment. He was loved by many and respected by all who knew him.

Besides his father, Roy was preceded in death by a brother, Chucky Cloe and a niece, Tonya Jenkins.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Anne Post Cloe, five sons, Roy F. (Brooke) Cloe, Jr. of San Antonio, TX, Linwood (Ashley) Cloe of Aulander, NC, Charles Cloe of St. Croix, VI, Benjamin (Casey) Cloe of Merry Hill, NC, and William Cloe of Aulander, NC; two sisters, Lorraine (Dallas) Howard of Woodland, NC, and JoAnn Jenkins of Indiana; three brothers, Eugene Cloe of Aulander, NC, Elmer (Yvonne) Cloe of Aulander, NC, and Jamie Cloe of Aulander, NC; and the lights of his life, his grandchildren, Abby Cloe, Riley Cloe, Austin Cloe, Savannah Cloe, and Kendall Cloe.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 30, 2018, from 7:00 pm until 8:30 pm at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Ahoskie, NC.

A celebration of life service will be held on Thursday, November 1, 2018, at 10:00 am at the Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service – Ahoskie Chapel, with Amanda Brown, officiating. Burial will follow in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens in Suffolk, VA.
