Ruth Williams Lassiter age 70 of Rich Square passed away on January 15, 2018 at the Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, NC.
She was born in Elizabeth City, NC on September 12, 1947 to the late Oscar and Mildred Williams. Ruth graduated from Northampton County High School and earned her cosmetology degree in Roanoke Rapids, NC. Ruth worked as a cosmetologist for her entire life. She worked at the Rich Square Beauty Shop in Rich Square for a number of years which she later owned and operated as Ruth Hairstyling. She was married to David on February 12, 1967 and to this marriage was born two girls. Ruth was a dedicated member of Lasker Baptist Church keeping the nursery, singing in the choir, WMU and BYW. She enjoyed traveling to all parts of the country with David. She was a very dedicated wife, mother and grandmother.
Other than her parents Ruth is preceded in death by her daughter, Lynn Lassiter Blowe and sister Gayle Stancil.
Ruth is survived by her loving spouse of fifty years, David Lassiter of the home, daughter, Susan Ellen Lassiter and spouse Nicole Smith of Hampstead, NC; brother, Shelton Williams of Belhaven, NC; granddaughter, Hadley Smith Lassiter of Hampstead, NC and grandson, Hudson Smith Lassiter of Hampstead, NC. Also surviving is her son-in-law James Carlton Blowe.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Phyllis Bracy for the loving care she provided to Ruth for the past two years.
Visitation will be held Friday, January 19, 2018 from 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service in Rich Square, NC.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 11:00 am at the Lasker Baptist Church in Lasker, NC, with the Rev Ricky Barnes and Rev. Bob Rogers officiating.
